2022 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Until I went out on my own I had never worked with Sonoma Coast fruit. In my early days, at Saintsbury I worked entirely with Carneros and Santa Lucia Highlands fruit, because that was where my work took me. In the years between 2002 and 2010 I began exploring Pinot Noir vineyards in the Sonoma Coast for various new clients and became intrigued with what I found. In 2004 I began working with Hirsch Vineyard, and in 2008 I found my way into a second vineyard in the Sonoma Coast and began bottling a wine called The Habitat. Those two wines showed me the range of wines possible in the Sonoma Coast as well as the possibilities of what could be achieved there. Things evolved over the intervening twenty years and now I have just one Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, comprised of fruit from the Barlow Homestead Vineyard near Sebastopol, farmed by Paul Sloan of Small Vines Wines (one of my clients). To my palate it combines the best of what the Sonoma Coast can be--fresh delicious fruit, enough structure to keep things lively, and just the right amount of ripeness. Not lean, not heavy. The 2022 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is selling fast. I released it to restaurants already and I made such a small amount that it won't last long. As always, orders of 12 bottles or more will include shipping. I will wait for cooler weather to ship.
