2007 "The Shop" Carneros Pinot Noir

This wine has been the hit of the lineup from the first vintage. Either people like the story or I am doing something right with the wine. Hopefully both. I have always viewed it as the best example among my offerings of the kind of wine I like to drink—reasonably priced, sophisticated, maybe a little serious but mostly just yummy. 2007 was a year of low yields and high concentration. The 2007 Shop reminds me a little of the 2005, although a bit tighter at this stage in its development. Deeply colored and focused, a bit backward in the aromas. I think it will probably become, over the course of the next few months, quite forward, savory and fruity in equal measure. I also think it will age well, as the 2005 seems to be doing. It can use some air upon opening, so either decant or slosh it around a bit in your glass before imbibing. 2007 yielded 500 cases.
